Last Saturday a bunch of USC people and I went to see wild poppies and daisies at Antelope Valley. It was the first time I meet most of them. We drove ~90 miles along Interstate 5 to the north, heading at the City of Lancaster, where hundreds of thousands of wild poppies were blossoming, well, at least supposed to be, at the so-called California Poppy Reserve.

It has been a rather unusual spring for California: the temperature has been going up and down, and there has been successive rain falls, even snow, which was not often seen in a southern California type of  spring. When we got there, instead of seeing a view saturated with blossoming flowers, we found the field predominantly green. The ranger at the information kiosk told us that  the very night before we came, it had been snowing in the park, so most likely we wouldn’t get to see many blossoms. However, now that we have drove a long way here, we decided  to go inside the park anyway just to take a chance.

I brought my camera. It was very windy in the valley. Freezing it might be, but California is never stingy on sunshine, and that is more that enough. I was such an enjoyable experience to see the typical California blue sky dressed up with clouds which not so typical. Luckily for us, we found a daisy field, and then a cluster of poppies. Girls jumped off the cars and began their modeling career, and I took out my D90 who was like a hungry beast could’t wait to be fed.

I took a lot of pictures. It was a lovely day, meeting great friends, taking photos, and breathing the spring. At the end of day, I like my D90 more =P
